Minocin/Minocycline Advice!!

Posted in Group:

Hello everybody, I'm 20 years old and haven't seen my face perfectly clear since I hit puberty many years ago. Finally today I saw a dermatologist for the first time after every over the counter treatment has failed me. I was prescribed Minocin/Minocycline to take twice a day for a month. Has it worked for any of you? I have a very sensitive stomach and worry that taking an antibiotic for so long will make me feel very sick. Has it made anyone sick the way antibiotics tend to make you feel nauseous, etc.? Has it given you results, how quickly? I know nothing about dermatologist prescribed acne treatments so I am putting all my trust in this one doctor. I just have reached my limit with my skin. I want to feel beautiful again and actually see my face that's been hidden under all this ugly acne. Please let me know your thoughts on the medication. I was also given a Benzoyl Peroxide gel which I am also worried about because I react very strongly to it. I'm scared of the irritation and peeling but if it will eventually lead to clear skin I'll do it. I also have a panic disorder, it's calmed down in the last couple of years but it is caused by a severe fear of disease and death. So naturally medications make me nervous and reading side effects triggers panic attacks. I just want to know personal stories with the drug. I just took the first dose half an hour ago and I feel dizzy and very nauseous. Very very nauseous. Any advice and personal experience is very much appreciated. Thank you everyone.

You should talk to your doctor and explain exactly what you are going through, sometimes ti is a nervous stomach, but the best thing is to have a doctor to check the whole situation, this way you will feel more comfortable. Wishing you well. God bless you.

Hey,

I know how you feel and you're not alone. Acne can make u feel so helpless sometimes but dont let it get the best of you. I struggle with feeling bad about myself cuz of a coupleple pimples. You just have to see the big picture and try not to focus on your flaws. Thats what Im trying. Im taking new medicine for it and taking it one day at a time. Things will get better. Be positive.:)

be very careful with monocycline!!!! it caused me to develop pseudotumor cerebri and code in the amublance from the built up pressure on my brain. different medications effect different people but BE CAREFUL!!! i am now stuck with a perminent spinal shunt.

Life is like a photograph ~ you develop from the negatives.

I know how are feeling I had acne since I was a teen. My sister just become a skin therapist thanks to her my skin looks amazing!!! I can look at myself in the mirror and i cant believe its my face. I have tried everything to get my face to clear nothing worked for me!!. Go to a skin therapist they use natural ways to treat your skin without using meds. I love my sister for fixing my skin she also had acne and now her face looks so beutiful. Try it you have nothing to lose. you never know if it ends up working for you.The one thing I would recommed you using is chamomile tea! this has helped my skin soo much its my new addiction! I put the tea on my face at night has a toner! this tea helps calm your acne. I let it dry and reapply 2 times. you'll noice that your skin is really smooth but before applying cleanse your face 2 times!.
Good luck and I wish you all the best. =D
